Hi! It's me, Anna.
I paint pets for two reasons:

Sharing beauty and meaning with others is what drives me as an artist, and I have the honor of doing just that every time I paint a subject so loved.

Painting reveals what otherwise goes unnoticed - details that make up the whole expression of an animal, hinting at the character within.

Base prices are for a single pet with a white or colored wash background. All portraits are painted on 100% cotton watercolor paper. Please note that frames are not included.

Do you have the perfect photo of your dog on the beach or your two kittens snoozing? When shown in the same reference photo, backgrounds and additional pets can be added to most portraits.

Combination Portraits
Perhaps you'd like multiple pet photos integrated into a single background, or maybe you want to feature details from several pictures. When this happens, we can combine photos.

How to Order
I schedule a limited number of portraits each month. To reserve yours, follow the steps below.

Choose your preferences + fill out the order form.
Step 2
I'll email you to chat about your ideal portrait, including a price estimate and start date.
Step 3
Secure your spot on my calendar with a 30% deposit.
Process
Painting Timeline
Sketch
When it’s time for your portrait, I’ll send you a sketch of the composition and incorporate up to three revisions. All changes are final once I begin painting.
Paint
Most portraits are finished within one week once I start, but large or more complex paintings can take up to two weeks.
Ship
Once you approve the completed painting and pay the final invoice, I will post your portrait via USPS. Packages go out at the end of the week.

Hey, there! I’m so glad you’re here.I'm Anna, watercolor artist, painter of pets, mother of two dinosaurs, collector of books I’ll read eventually, and former Michigander who thinks that Puget Sound could do with a little less salt.
I'm happiest when I've fueled a midnight art session with too much coffee, refusing to rest until I've got those details around the eyes just so. I lose myself in painting, but I generally find something new and wonderful by the time I finish.It's a bit like paleontology - I fiddle around here and there, looking closely and selecting my tools accordingly, until I see what I couldn't possibly have before; not just a dog, but this dog, the one who is no less noble for her waddle, or this cat, who knows just how to cuddle in the crook of your arm while you sip your morning cup.
Painting has a way of bringing out what the eye otherwise doesn't notice. Each portrait is unique, beautiful in the individuality of its subject and more beautiful because of the loving relationship between pet and family. Whenever I receive a painting request, I feel like I get a glimpse into something precious beyond words.And for that, I thank you.
